Both the 21-year-old woman who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for Tove's murder and Tove's family appealed the Court of Appeal's ruling. The convicted wanted to be acquitted, while the relatives wanted the Supreme Court to impose a sentence of life imprisonment.

The Supreme Court writes that in order for the Supreme Court to consider an appeal, there must be a need for the Supreme Court to provide answers to ambiguities in the legislation or how it should be applied in certain types of cases.

The Supreme Court has reviewed the material in the case and concluded that there are no grounds for granting leave to appeal. The Supreme Court's decision means that the case will not be admissible. The judgment of the Court of Appeal thus stands.
