Wael Dahdouh plays football with IDPs inside Nasser Hospital (Hamdan Dahdouh on Instagram)

"Despite his pain and wounds, he comforts children and the wounded," social media fans reacted to a video posted by photographer Hamdan al-Dahdouh of Al Jazeera's bureau chief in Gaza and its correspondent Wael al-Dahdouh playing football with displaced people inside Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis.

Bloggers commented on the clip by saying that despite his pain, wounds and great loss of loved ones, he consoles injured and sick children by playing with them with the ball, and they said that he is a man with a thousand men, it is glory, steadfastness, patience and mercy.

Other commentators on the video described Wael Dahdouh as an icon of steadfastness and determination to convey what is happening in Gaza from the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the people of the Strip for more than 100 days.

The video has garnered more than a million views since Hamdan Al Dahdouh posted it on his Instagram account in just 14 hours.

It is noteworthy that a number of family members of Al Jazeera's correspondent in Gaza Wael al-Dahdouh – including his wife, son and daughter – were killed in an Israeli shelling that targeted a house they were displaced to in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, and his son Hamza was killed 10 days ago in an Israeli shelling targeting journalists in the southern Gaza Strip.
