Beijing, 1 Jan (ZXS) -- Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning refuted the DPP authorities' erroneous remarks at a regular press conference on 16 January that Taiwan's "diplomatic space" had been suppressed and that the so-called "countries with diplomatic relations" had been lured.

Mao Ning pointed out that there is only one China in the world, the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. Upholding the one-China principle is the general international interest, the aspiration of the people, and the trend of the times.

"We believe that more countries will choose to stand on the right side of history and international justice, and make the right decisions that are in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of their people. She said.

Mao Ning stressed: The one-China principle is a basic norm governing international relations and a universal consensus of the international community. The Chinese government has never traded principles.

She said: The DPP authorities in Taiwan have disregarded the general trend of history, refused to accept the one-China principle, tried in every possible way to expand the so-called "international space," and engaged in "Taiwan independence" separatist acts.

At the meeting, Mao Ning refuted Taiwan's foreign affairs department's claim that Nauru's "severance of diplomatic relations" with Taiwan at this time was a direct challenge to the international order. She said: The relevant remarks made by the Taiwan authorities are purely confusing black and white and confusing the public. The Taiwan issue is absolutely not a democratic issue, but an issue concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Under the pretext of "democracy," the "Taiwan independence" forces cover up their sinister intentions to split the country, and their plot is doomed to failure.

"When it comes to the international order, Taiwan's return to China is an important part of the post-World War II international order, which is clearly stipulated in the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation. Resolution 1971, adopted by the 26th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2758, made it clear that there are no 'two Chinas' or 'one China, one Taiwan' in the world. Mao Ning said that adhering to the one-China principle is to safeguard the international order, and challenging the one-China principle is to challenge the international order, which will inevitably meet with the common opposition of the international community.

Mao Ning also said that 182 countries in the world have established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of the one-China principle. Nauru's decision to stand by the overwhelming majority of the international community and resume diplomatic relations with China is the right choice in line with its long-term interests and will open up brighter prospects for Nauru's development.

In addition, Mao Ning also said at the meeting that since January 1, many countries and international organizations have publicly reaffirmed their adherence to the one-China principle, firmly support China's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, oppose any form of "Taiwan independence," and support China's great cause of reunification.

She said that in addition to those mentioned at the previous regular press conference, a large number of countries, including Pakistan, Maldives, Myanmar, Iran, Syria, Tunisia, Palestine, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Central Africa, Niger, Equatorial Guinea, Comoros, Lesotho, Somalia, Djibouti, Mali, Burundi, Gambia, Vanuatu, Tonga, Kiribati, Dominica, Nicaragua, and Bolivia, as well as the African Union, have all clearly expressed their support for the one-China principle. The voice of opposition to "Taiwan independence".

"We express our appreciation and gratitude to these countries and organizations for their just stands. We believe that the international community will continue to support the Chinese people's just cause of opposing 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities and striving for national reunification in accordance with the one-China principle. Mao Ning said. (ENDS)
