This was reported by the Russian Embassy in the republic.

"1167,789 Russian citizens living in Latvia are under threat of deportation, 60 of them are over <> years old," the agency said on its Telegram channel.

It is specified that among the candidates for expulsion there are blind people with disabilities since childhood.

The statement also said that due to Latvia's implementation of amendments to the Law on Immigration, many pensioners have lost their livelihood and may be expelled from the country.

Earlier, the LTV channel, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Latvia, reported that the Latvian authorities re-informed 985 Russians about the threat of deportation due to the situation with the extension of residence permits.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the expulsion of pensioners from the Baltic countries an absolute shame.
