Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Al Jazeera Media Institute, the Institute launched on Thursday, January 11, 2024, a new program entitled "Open Coverage" on its digital platforms.

The "Open Coverage" program is one of the educational programs published by the Institute with the aim of improving media practices at the Arab and regional levels, prepared and presented by media expert Mr. Biba Ould Amhadi, in which he presents a summary of Al Jazeera's experience in the field of live television coverage, and the criteria on which this relatively new journalistic genre is based at the level of the Arab world.

The program consists of 11 episodes that deal with the definition of the concept of open coverage, its duration, types and requirements for initiating it, as well as the mechanisms of implementation, the roles of producers, directors and correspondents, and the various teams that join efforts to make coverage successful and achieve its goals, and cover various topics, including television presentation, translation, media language and other topics of interest to workers in the journalism profession.

It is noteworthy that the Institute launched the terminology program in early January, which seeks to explain and simplify some of the concepts and terms that are circulating through the media in certain contexts, such as the oligarchy, the white elephant, lobbyists and others.
