North Korean Foreign Minister Choe So-ni departed from the capital Pyongyang on the 14th for an official visit to Russia. Amid growing accusations against both countries for the use of ballistic missiles provided by North Korea in Russia's attack on Ukraine, the two countries are expected to emphasize further strengthening of cooperation.

On the 15th, North Korea's official newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Labor Daily, reported that a government delegation led by Foreign Minister Choe So-ni departed from the capital Pyongyang by air on the 14th for an official visit to Russia.

The official visit was at the invitation of Foreign Minister Lavrov, and the delegation will stay for three days, from the 15th to the 17th.

Foreign Minister Choi met with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in North Korea in October last year and signed a plan for exchanges between the two countries' foreign ministries for next year.

Amid growing accusations from the West and other countries of the use of ballistic missiles provided by North Korea in Russia's attack on Ukraine, the two foreign ministers are expected to emphasize further strengthening cooperation.

There is also the possibility of discussing President Putin's visit to North Korea, which was discussed at the summit meeting in September last year.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said in a speech late last year that he would further develop relations with countries that rival the West.
