The Consumer Counseling Center in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia recommended that heart patients be careful when taking omega-3 capsules, because taking a high dose of them increases their risk of atrial fibrillation, which is an irregular heartbeat, which in turn increases the risk of stroke.

The center added that for this reason, omega-3 capsules should be taken under the supervision of a doctor, noting that the correct dose of omega-3 fatty acids improves blood flow properties.

Foods rich in omega-3

The center added that the body can be supplied with omega-3 fatty acids by eating foods rich in them such as fatty marine fish such as mackerel, herring, sardines and salmon, in addition to linseed oil, walnut oil, rapeseed oil and soybean oil.

On the other hand, the center pointed out that taking an overdose of omega-3 is also dangerous for healthy people, who do not suffer from heart disease, as it can weaken their immune system.
