The wolf that attacked two sheep in Traryd a week ago was tracked through observations up towards the Ljungby area where it attacked three more sheep outside Vislanda.

"We saw a great risk that more attacks would occur, which there were. Now we are urging animal owners in these areas to cancel their animals, says Magnus Lundmark, nature conservation officer at the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg.

Culling decisions are being prepared

The County Administrative Board is preparing a decision to initiate culling, but it is delayed, as a similar decision in Kalmar County was taken and revoked because it concerns a biologically important individual.

"Our ambition is that a decision we make will stand up in court, and when a decision from the Administrative Court of Appeal comes, it will be indicative," says Magnus Lundmark.

Until a decision has been made, animal owners are encouraged to take preventive measures and apply for support from the county administrative board for the extra work they put in.
