It was around 20 p.m. on Monday that a ten-year-old boy was attacked and bitten by a stray dog in Kortedala in Gothenburg. The boy is still being treated at Östra Hospital with serious injuries to his arm.

Locked the child and the mother in the car

According to eyewitness Mary, the dog bit the boy and wouldn't let go for a long time while several people tried to get the dog to let go with kicks and punches.

When the boy finally got free, they dragged him to their car and locked him up with the boy's mother.

Felt personal

According to Mary, the dog seemed most interested in the young boy. It continued to chase him even after the first attack.

"The dog ran and wanted to attack the boy again while the boy was in the car. There were many others there but the dog just wanted him. It felt personal," she says.

I've been through a dog attack myself

Mary states that she herself had a serious incident when she was younger where she was attacked by a dog.

"I was scared, I didn't want to go close. But I had my mother's phone on me, so I filmed because I wanted others to learn a lesson from this and know how dangerous dogs are," she says.

May be euthanized

The same dog has also attacked two other children in December last year and has been ordered to be muzzled and put on a leash. Despite this, the County Administrative Board has not been able to notify the dog owner of the coercive measures. Now the dog has been taken into custody by the police.

"If, as in this case, it has attacked children, there is a great risk that it will be euthanized," says Violetta Delgado, administrator at the County Administrative Board in Halland.
