The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Gaza Strip called on imams and preachers around the world to "harness their inkwells, pens, voices and pulpits to defend Palestine and support Muslims in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza."

The ministry said – in a letter addressed to the ministers of endowments and religious and Islamic affairs in Arab and Islamic countries, and to "our sheikhs of imams and preachers in the great Arab and Islamic world" – that "you have an example in Sheikh Al-Islam Al-Izz bin Abdul Salam, nicknamed the Sultan of Scholars, how he shook the thrones of unjust usurpers with his speeches and words that moved the consciences of the nation and awakened in them pride and dignity and ignited in their chests the flame of jihad and victory."

The ministry addressed scholars and preachers that "even if the borders prevent us, jihad in Lebanon is no less than jihad in Sinan, in light of the violation of the Zionist enemy all heavenly laws, customs, laws and international conventions, desecration of sanctities and violation of honor, and the blood of our children, women and elderly was carried out in the streets and scattered body parts everywhere cursing every laggard and negligent to support the vulnerable Muslims in Gaza."

"We hold you accountable for the responsibility of defending Palestine and supporting its people in Gaza and lifting injustice against them, which you will ask about on a day when neither money nor children will benefit," she said.

In its message, the ministry reminded the hadiths of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that "no one fails a Muslim woman at a home where his sanctity is violated and his honor is derogated from, except that Allah Almighty fails him in a country where he loves his support, and no one who supports a Muslim in a country where he detracts from his honor and violates his sanctity except Allah's victory in a country where he loves his victory."

The letter also pointed out that the people of Gaza have been subjected for more than 90 days at the hands of the Israeli occupation army to "the most heinous forms of killing, torture and displacement (approximately 90,500 martyrs, missing and wounded), the destruction of government institutions and educational headquarters (more than 355 institutions, schools and universities), the destruction of homes on the heads of their inhabitants day and night (500,<> housing units in whole and in part), the destruction of mosques (approximately <> mosques in whole and in part), and the obliteration of every Islamic cultural and archaeological landmark. "Water, medicine and food have been banned, and people have been starved and displaced from their homes in the open without food or shelter in the extreme cold."
