During a press conference following his visit to Israel, Blinken said that the United States wants a speedy end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has brought "too many victims, too much suffering."
"Hamas could have ended this on October 8 if it had not been hiding behind the backs of civilians, laid down its arms, surrendered, freed the hostages. And again, this could end tomorrow if Hamas makes such decisions," Blinken said.
Earlier, Axios reported that Israel intends to include the return of residents to northern Gaza in the deal with Hamas.
