The newspaper Politico writes about this, citing sources.

According to the publication, if Michel is elected to the European Parliament, the leaders of the European Union will need to choose a successor to the post of head of the European Council.

If EU leaders fail to unanimously elect a candidate, Orbán will take Michel's post, as Hungary will hold the presidency of the EU Council from July 2024.

According to the newspaper, the EU considers it undesirable for Orban to join the leadership of the association's bodies because of his position on the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier, Charles Michel said that he would leave his post in the summer to become a member of the European Parliament.
