In the lecture, Mi Lijun introduced the formation and evolution of offshore oil and gas, the enrichment of marine oil and gas resources and the characteristics of the offshore oil industry. He also told the story of CNOOC people's tackling and expanding the territory and building the "Maritime Daqing".

Mi Lijun said that compared with onshore oil and gas exploration, the exploration of offshore oil and gas resources faces greater challenges. For example, complex geological and engineering conditions multiply the risk of offshore oil and gas exploration, while the investment in offshore oil field development is about 10 times that of conventional onshore oil fields, he said. To this end, CNOOC Limited has created a number of "eyes" and "hands" of science and technology, so that offshore oil can be "seen, seen accurately, touched and produced".
