Yichang, January 1 (Chen Long, Xia Tao) With the 5,19 freight train carrying 45502 wagons of chemical products leaving Hubei Yichang East Station on the afternoon of the 5th, the first train of "Yichang East-Nansha Port" sea-rail intermodal transport was officially opened. It is reported that the train will arrive at Nansha Port in Guangzhou three days later, and then arrive in Indonesia, Thailand, India and other countries by sea ship.

Yichang is the site of the Three Gorges Project, and is building a national comprehensive transportation hub and a port-based national logistics hub. Since 2023, the Yichang Railway Depot of Wuhan Railway has actively taken advantage of the advantages of smooth railway network, large transportation capacity, long transportation distance and low cost, deepened cooperation with Yichang Development and Reform Commission and Yichang Logistics Center, and successively opened up a number of rail-sea intermodal transportation channels from Yichang to Qinzhou, Ningbo, Xiamen and Guangzhou.

According to the relevant person in charge of Yichang Logistics Development Center, Yichang foreign trade goods take advantage of the Nansha Port Railway to realize direct trains to the core port area, which will further save the cost of short barge and effectively improve the transportation timeliness. Compared with the traditional river-sea combined transport, the operation time of the domestic section of the Yisui channel can be saved by 10 days, and some routes to Southeast Asia and Europe can save logistics time by more than two weeks.

In order to ensure the smooth operation of the train, Yichang East Railway Station strengthened communication and coordination with the enterprise, understood the organization of the company's cargo source, formulated the "one-to-one" train transportation organization plan, and provided "one-stop" transportation services. In addition, the train improves the transportation timeliness and reduces the comprehensive logistics cost of the enterprise by adopting the transportation mode of "one order to the end" and "one box to the end".

It is reported that in the next step, the railway department will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Municipal Logistics Development Center, promote the Yisui channel to serve key production enterprises such as GAC, Xingfa, Yihua, Qugu, etc., and vigorously develop the Yichang hub economy with the channel to drive logistics, logistics to drive economy and trade, and economy and trade to drive industry.
