In response to the earthquake, Prime Minister Kishida instructed Defense Minister Kihara to instruct the Self-Defense Forces to ascertain the needs of relief supplies at each evacuation center, transport and provide them, and announced that the SDF would dispatch government officials to the affected municipalities to strengthen the liaison system.

On the evening of March 3, Prime Minister Kishida held a video conference with Governor Yoshi of Ishikawa Prefecture and the heads of the affected municipalities, including Nanao City and Anamizu Town, and received requests for assistance such as water, food, and fuel.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Prime Minister Kishida said, "As the evacuation is expected to be prolonged, it is extremely important to provide support to the victims, and it is important for the national government to support local governments to understand their needs and transport supplies until their functions are fully restored."

He also revealed that he had instructed Defense Minister Kihara that the Self-Defense Forces should grasp the needs of relief supplies at each evacuation center and transport and provide them.

He also announced that he would strengthen the liaison system with local governments by dispatching government officials, including deputy mayors, to disaster-stricken municipalities.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Kishida stated, "Two days have passed since the disaster, and we continue to be at an extremely important stage for saving the lives of those affected by the disaster, such as those who are stranded in collapsed buildings.
