"Islamic Resistance in Iraq" claimed most of the attacks on bases housing US troops in Iraq and Syria (Reuters)

An Iraqi army source told Reuters that air defense systems shot down an armed drone over Ain al-Assad base, which hosts US and international forces in western Iraq, on Monday.

The source added that the attack did not cause deaths or damage, the second in hours after a march was shot down over Erbil airport in northern Iraq, where US and other international forces are stationed.

Since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on the seventh of last October, the Ain al-Assad base has been subjected to a series of drone and rocket attacks.

Last week, a military base housing US troops near Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq was attacked by a booby-trapped drone, causing injuries and disruption of work at the airport, according to the Iraqi army.

The United States provides military support and political cover to the Israeli occupation throughout its ongoing aggression against Gaza.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq usually claims many attacks targeting Ain al-Assad base, as well as Tal al-Baydar in northern Syria and al-Tanf base in the south, as it previously announced the bombing of a target in Eilat on the Red Sea, and an Israeli gas platform in the Mediterranean.
