Météo-France has placed the Pas-de-Calais in rain-flood vigilance Sunday and Monday. In the department, which was hit by violent floods last month, "accumulations could be significant (...) between 30 and 50 mm mainly centered on the west of Pas-de-Calais," says Météo-France.

The Pas-de-Calais was placed Sunday and Monday in rain-flood vigilance by Météo-France, with overcast and rainy weather elsewhere. In this department, "the cumulations may be significant (...) between 30 and 50 mm mainly centered on the west of Pas-de-Calais," according to the statement from Météo-France. "During the evening, under the thundery showers circulating from the west of Pas-de-Calais to Flanders, southwesterly wind gusts may occasionally reach 100/110 km/h inland," adds the weather service.

The year 2023 ends under overcast and rainy weather in the morning from the South-West to the Massif Central and the North-East. In the afternoon, this precipitation will shift to the eastern coast of the country and block over the Jura and the Alps. The rain-snow line, around 1,500 m at midday, will drop to between 800 and 1,000 m in the evening. This disturbance will be accompanied by a sustained southwesterly and then westerly wind of 70 to 80 km/h, locally gusting to 90 km/h. The south of Occitania, the west of the Massif Central and the Mediterranean rim will experience only light rain, with sunny spells in the afternoon.

Wind at 100km/h on the Breton coast

At the back, the weather will remain choppy. Initially, sunny spells will dominate in the north-west but showers will quickly circulate over Brittany, with wind gusts reaching 100 km/h on the coast, 80 to 90 in the interior.

In the afternoon, this changeable weather will spread to a good part of the western half of the country, but over the north-east and south of the Garonne the sunny spells will be longer-lasting. Near the English Channel and the Atlantic, sleet will be frequent, sometimes stormy.

Minimum temperatures will range from four to eight degrees in general from east to west, up to 10 degrees on the Mediterranean coast. Highs will vary between 8 and 12 degrees in the northern half and the Massif Central, between 11 and 15 further south, between 14 and 19 in Corsica.
