Fewer restaurant visits, activities and Christmas gifts. It is single parent Emil Nyström's solution to the shock increase in the monthly fee that will land in the mailbox as early as the end of the year.

"I have no choice but that it has to go. I'm hoping for better times, of course," he says.

'Drastic increase'

Emil Nyström has had some dialogue with the housing association since the decision on the increase was made, but is critical of the new fee.

"It's a bit drastic in these times. Maybe they could have raised a little step by step. I don't know if the increase is justified," he says.

According to the board, the fee increase is mainly due to increased interest rates, but also increased operating costs and maintenance costs.

Increase of 35 percent

Emil Nyström had hoped that the residents could be included in the dialogue. Now the news came as a shock.

"Since I moved in a few years ago, my fee has become a total of 35 percent higher per month.

Now Emil Nyström hopes that he and the children can stay.

"I have to do everything I can. That's the goal. I'll have to take an extra job.
