Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant and War Council Minister Benny Gantz refused to participate in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's press conference on Saturday night, according to Israeli media.
The Israel Broadcasting Corporation (official) reported on its X account that Galant and Gantz refused to attend and participate in Netanyahu's conference, without giving the reason for this.
Since the formation of the war council – which is chaired by Netanyahu and includes Galant and Gantz – Israeli media have reported differences on more than one occasion between Netanyahu and Galant on the one hand and Netanyahu and Gantz on the other over the management of the war and the file of Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip.
The Islamist group Hamas surprised Israel on Oct. 7 with a large-scale attack on settlements around Gaza that killed some 1200,<> Israelis and captured dozens.
According to the Israeli army, 168 officers and soldiers have been killed in Gaza since the start of the ground operation on October 27, while the total number of dead since October 7 reached 502 officers and soldiers.
The ongoing Israeli war since Oct. 7 against the Gaza Strip until Saturday left 21,672 martyrs, 56,165 injured - most of them children and women - massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to the Gaza Strip authorities and the United Nations.
