Traffic on the route has been stopped and there is no forecast for when it can resume.

VR's Head of Communications Christer Ekelund says that it was a train from Örebro to Avesta Krylbo that derailed near the station, on its way to the track. None of the people were injured.

In an email to SVT, he states that the people have not yet been evacuated:

"We are waiting for personnel who can ensure evacuation. No forecast for when that might happen."

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, the derailment must have taken place at low speed.

Stockholm traffic is affected

The derailment affects, among other things, trains on the Stockholm–Falun and Stockholm–Mora routes.

Passengers are advised to contact their train companies for information about replacement services.

We'll update this article as soon as more information becomes available. The Swedish Transport Administration has previously stated that the people themselves left the train.
