One of the reasons is that there is a low risk of detection.

"It's about being able to dump the garbage, by dumping it illegally or burying it. Then it will be difficult to find, says Henrik Sandström, administrator at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, in Aktuellt.

On Thursday, eleven people from the waste management company Think Pink, who are suspected of burying and dumping over 200,000 tons of waste at about 20 different locations in 15 municipalities, were indicted.

Jonas Ebbesson, professor of environmental law at Stockholm University, believes that the Think Pink case is a clear example of how organized environmental crime has become.
