On Friday, Ingrid Appeltofft is out with her dogs Ziggy and Tilly in Ögårdsparken in Malmö. It is the day after a 75-year-old woman was arrested in the same park, suspected of having placed dumplings of dough with pieces of glass in them, with the intention of harming dogs.

"I was very happy when I heard that. As a dog owner, there have been many years of stress, that you have to keep track of what the dogs eat, says Ingrid Appeltofft.

The police have made seizures

The police have searched the home of the 75-year-old suspect and made some seizures. But what the police found and what the woman said in interrogation, they do not want to go into at the moment. According to the prosecutor, the woman denies any wrongdoing.

Over 100 complaints in recent years

"I don't think Malmö's dog owners should breathe a sigh of relief just yet. The woman has been served with suspicion for the incident yesterday, she is not a suspect in the other cases. Of course, we will look at the other events and see if she can be linked to them. In recent years, we have received over 100 reports, so it is a lot of work, says Evelina Olsson, police spokesperson.

Since 2020, Malmö's dogs have been plagued by so-called "dog buns" – buns with pieces of metal or glass in them that have been placed in various places in the city.

"Among other things, we will go through the DNA and see if she can be linked to the other events, but it is a lot of work," says Evelina Olsson.

Ingrid Appeltofft hopes that the police have arrested the right person.

"I hope there aren't any more now. I'm worried about my dogs and I can't see everything they eat.
