The Rapid Support Forces took control of the command of the First Infantry Division in the city of Wad Madani (social media)

What happened in the Sudanese city of Wad Madani? And is there treason? Where is the Sudanese army and why was the RSF allowed to enter the city? These and other questions have been asking Sudanese on social media platforms since last Monday, so why all the fuss?

The city of Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira State, which is strategically located, is the largest food and economic source in the country, and is characterized by its mediation of many states, and is about 200 km from the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

Since last Saturday, the Rapid Support Forces began attacking the city of Wad Madani, where the First Infantry Division of the Sudanese army is located, which was led by Major General Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and after almost two days of battles, the people of the city were surprised by the withdrawal of the First Infantry Division from its headquarters, and the entry of the Rapid Support Forces into the city.

Hemedti's forces announced their control of the division, and posted videos of its fighters roaming inside, and said through its account on the X platform, "The Rapid Support Forces liberate the First Civilian Infantry Brigade and the Central Reserve Presidency, and control the entrance to the Hantoub bridge from the east."

The Sudanese army then announced the withdrawal of the forces of the First Division Presidency from the city of Madani, and said, "The reasons and circumstances that led to the withdrawal of the forces from their positions are being investigated, like the rest of the military areas, and the results of the investigation will be submitted as soon as they are completed to the competent authorities, and then the facts will be published to the public opinion."

With the announcement of the rapid support control of the city, and the army's statement of the withdrawal of its forces, a state of shock and condemnation appeared in the Sudanese street reflected on social media platforms, and people wondered how it was done. Why are the RSF allowed to enter the city? Knowing that all the movements of these forces are known to the army, why were they not targeted by warplanes?

Bloggers wondered why the division commander and his officers withdrew without resistance, and whether they withdrew on the instructions of the military command or did the division commander violate the instructions and withdrew? Some observers accused the division commander and his officers of high treason, and demanded a public trial of the brigade and the reasons for his withdrawal without resistance.

The withdrawal of the commander of the First Infantry Division and his officers from a civilian, without a fight, while leaving weapons and ammunition in the division's stores, high treason and a stab in the side of the people before the army.
This is a shame that will only be washed away by the liberation of a civilian and the expulsion of the Janjaweed and their criminal leader Kickl sooner rather than later.#Sudan#Civilian_must_return

Activists began posting videos showing the RSF entering the city and vandalizing property, with some accusing them of raping women in the city.

Activists circulated videos of the displacement of the city's residents to escape the violations practiced by the Rapid Support Forces against the city's residents, according to them.

The pioneers of communication networks in the Arab world interacted with the events taking place in Sudan, and through the hashtag "#أنقذوا_السودان" tweeters said that the people of Sudan are suffering from tragic circumstances, the whole world focuses on the events in Gaza, but there are brothers for us in Sudan who need our prayers and solidarity, we hope that the Arabs and the world look at what is happening in Sudan and pay attention to the humanitarian and political situation. The situation in Sudan is not an internal war, but more, they say.

"Our brothers in Sudan are suffering from tragic conditions, homes are being occupied, symptoms are being violated, blood is being shed, money is being stolen, and security is non-existent.

After the controversy that arose over the withdrawal of the army without any resistance, tweeters circulated an audio clip of General Yasser al-Atta, in which he comments on what happened in Madani, and Atta said, "The army will not betray and will not sell, and the battle of Madani is not the end, and the war will be won by the army sooner rather than later."

He stressed that the armed forces do not know betrayal, and that the real battle facing Sudan is a battle with the world, agents and conspirators who want to change the identity of Sudan and its people, adding that the Sudanese army has been fighting since the fifties, and did not know the path of betrayal or employment.
