The decision means that the project will be financed with SEK 1.3 billion through the municipality's group of companies and approximately SEK 100 million granted by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. The total investment is estimated at SEK 1.43 billion, making it one of Skellefteå Municipality's most expensive of all time.

Alliance critical of the calculation

All parties in the municipal council supported the decision, but the Moderates, the Centre Party, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals were critical of the basis for the decision.

"We are concerned that the basis for the decision was deficient when it comes to customer base, financing and actual cost. We also directed criticism to the economic calculation, which is simplified, writes opposition councillor Andreas Löwenhöök (M) in a press release.
