The decision states that the doctor has written prescriptions that "show a pronounced lack of judgment, ignorance, indifference and a risk-taking that has been very remarkable."

The retired doctor has already been banned from prescribing narcotics last spring after several patients were prescribed very high doses, which in some cases were also deemed life-threatening. Since then, more cases have been added and there have also been reports from pharmacies that affected patients have collected prescriptions.

Some of the prescriptions have been issued to a family member with substance abuse problems. The doctor has previously stated to SVT Gävleborg that it is a close relative, living with the doctor who accessed the bank ID information to write prescriptions several times. The Disciplinary Board is of the opinion that the doctor is responsible for ensuring that no unauthorised persons abuse the right to prescribe.
