On October 19, Foreign Minister Kamikawa visited the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and inspected the facility for discharging treated water into the sea. He also reiterated his intention to persistently call for the abolition of the suspension of imports of Japan marine products that China and other countries have been taking.

Foreign Minister Kamikawa visited TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station on June 19 and inspected a facility that dilutes treated water and discharges it into the ocean, where he received an explanation from the person in charge on how it works and how to confirm its safety.

After this, we moved to the Onahama Fish Market in Iwaki City, where we tasted locally caught seafood such as Mexicali and appealed to the safety of the fish.

China and Russia continue to suspend imports of Japan seafood releasing into the ocean, and the fishery industry officials with whom we exchanged views requested that diplomatic efforts be made to deepen international understanding.

Minister Kamikawa reiterated his intention to persistently call for the repeal of the measures, saying, "We will work to further deepen the understanding and support of the international community by providing detailed explanations on the safety of treated water based on scientific evidence, and we will continue to call for the immediate repeal of import bans by some countries."
