Putin noted that al-Sisi won a convincing victory in the elections, which was a clear evidence of the wide recognition of his merits in solving urgent socio-economic and foreign policy problems facing Egypt.
"Dear Mr. President, dear friend, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your re-election as president," the telegram published on the Kremlin's website reads.
Earlier it was reported that the incumbent president of Egypt was re-elected for a new term. In the first round, al-Sisi received 89.6%.
