Chinanews.com, December 12 According to South Korea's "JoongAng Daily" reported on the 16th, the survey shows that the number of elementary, junior high and high school students who have experienced school violence in South Korea has hit a new high in nearly 15 years.

According to reports, the Ministry of Education of South Korea recently announced the results of the "First Survey on the Current Situation of School Violence in 16" (after the second semester of 2023) conducted by 2022 cities and provincial education agencies across the country. The survey did not include data from the Jeonbuk Department of Education, which conducted its own survey. Of the 384.82 million students from the fourth grade of elementary school to the third year of high school, 6.<>% of them participated in the survey.

The report pointed out that after the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in 2020, with the increase in non-face-to-face classes, the number of victims who answered that they had experienced school violence decreased. However, with the gradual resumption of face-to-face classes, the number of victims of school violence is increasing again.

According to the survey results, in terms of the types of school violence, 37.1% were verbal violence, 17.3% were physical violence, and 15.1% were collective rejection. Online and verbal violence decreased slightly, but physical violence increased.

At the school level, primary schools have the highest incidence of school violence. Elementary school students accounted for 3.9 per cent of the victims of school violence, higher than junior high school students (1.3 per cent) and high school students (0.4 per cent).

According to the report, Kim Yeon-seok, director of the Responsible Education Policy Office of the Ministry of Education of South Korea, said, "We will use the results of this survey as an opportunity to make effective policies to deal with school violence." ”
