An 86-year-old man dies after being shot by thieves in his home in Tàrrega (Lleida)

An 86-year-old man died last morning after being shot at his home in the Lleida town of Tàrrega, apparently by thieves who had entered the house, circumstances that are now being investigated by the Mossos.

The Catalan police have reported in a statement that at 04:50 hours on Saturday they have been alerted to an event in a house in the aforementioned town, to which members of the Mossos, the Local Police and the Medical Emergency System (SEM) have been displaced, health workers who have been unable to do anything to save the man's life.

The agents were alerted by the victim's wife, who was assaulted by the thieves who entered her house in the early hours of the morning, located at number 13 Segarra Street in theaforementioned town.

The criminal investigation division of the Mossos is investigating the circumstances of the violent death of the elderly man, a case that is under secrecy.
