According to the court's decision, the murderer was to pay damages to the mother of SEK 60,000 for pain and suffering.

The Crime Victim Compensation and Support Authority has now examined whether the mother can receive state compensation instead of the damages awarded, something that is done if the convicted person is unable to pay herself.

But the mother does not receive any compensation.

The reason is that the murdered son had engaged in organized drug sales – just before the murder he had arranged to meet someone to sell cocaine.

Through his involvement in such illegal activities, he has exposed himself to an increased risk of harm, the authority writes.
