On December 12, with the slow rotation of the cutterhead of the 6.14-meter-class large shield machine "Longgang No. 33", the first shield machine of the whole line of the Shenzhen-Shantou Railway was successfully launched at the construction site of the 6-bid project of the Shenzhen-Shantou Railway, and the construction of the Shenzhen-Shantou Railway ushered in new progress.

The new Shenzhen-Shenzhen-Shantou Cooperation Zone railway (excluding the early construction section) station front project is located in the south of Guangdong Province, with a total length of 125.520 kilometers, starting from the Shenzhen hub Xili Station, ending at the Shenzhen-Shantou Cooperation Zone and introducing the Shenzhen-Shantou Railway Station, with a total of 8 super-large diameter shield machines planned for construction. Among them, the Longgang Tunnel section organized by the Second Bureau of China Railway is divided into the Nanyue Tunnel Section and the Baohe Tunnel Section, which are all major and difficult projects of the line. The "Longgang No. <>" shield machine, which was successfully launched this time, will be responsible for the promotion of the shield section in the south.

With a diameter of 14.33 meters, a length of 122 meters and a weight of 3850,350 tons, the "Longgang No. <>" shield machine is currently the first shield machine in China for the construction of high-speed rail with a speed of <> kilometers per hour.

In view of the major difficulties in the shield tunneling process of Longgang Tunnel, such as the parallel Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railway, the crossing of 21 important structures, the long-distance crossing of karst, and the uneven soft and hard and poor interaction geology of soft and hard, the R&D team gave full play to the advantages of large shield technology, combined with the actual engineering and rich construction experience, and carried out targeted research and design of the shield machine.

According to Wu Zhihao, commander of the Shenzhen-Shantou Railway 6 project of China Railway Second Bureau Group Co., Ltd., a total of about 24 new process methods have been applied and implemented in this project, and 8 technologies have been applied to shield construction for the first time to ensure the smooth and safe completion of the project.

After the completion of the Shenzhen-Shantou Railway, it can simultaneously realize the high-speed connection between the Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta, the Western Strait Economic Belt and the Greater Southwest Area, as well as the high-speed and high-frequency railway connection between Shenzhen and Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone, which is also of great significance for the Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone to accelerate the integrated development with Shenzhen and integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
