Working-level talks between the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the New Komeito Party (Komeito) on the revision of the rules for the export of defense equipment agreed to ease the export of "licensed-produced" equipment manufactured domestically by introducing technology from foreign companies, and it was decided to make a proposal to the government by the end of this year. On the other hand, there is a strong cautious opinion within the Komeito Party regarding the export of jointly developed equipment to third countries, and it is expected that it will be difficult to reach a conclusion by the end of this year.

The working-level consultations between the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the New Komeito Party (Komeito) on the revision of the rules for the export of defense equipment confirmed on June 6 that the export of "licensed-produced" equipment to third countries will be permitted, and it was decided to make recommendations to the government by the end of the year.

On the other hand, with a view to the next-generation fighter aircraft to be developed with the United Kingdom and Italy, no conclusion was reached on the export of equipment jointly developed with other countries to third countries.

The members of the working-level talks agreed to accept this, but there were cautious voices within the Komeito Party, such as "This is a major shift that will allow the export of lethal fighter jets, and it requires the understanding of the public."

For this reason, it is difficult to reach a conclusion on the export of jointly developed equipment to third countries by the end of this year.
