The police established that he regularly made trips between the cities of Argenteuil and Saint-Denis via the Saint-Lazare train station. He is currently in police custody on suspicion of the rape of a Brazilian tourist on the night of February 4 to 5. Her sister had also been sexually assaulted.

The insecurity on the Champ-de-Mars is a concern of the police prefecture. Last October, a 23-year-old English policewoman, then on holiday in France, was raped behind a bush. Her attacker, a 35-year-old man, was arrested an hour after the incident by the BAC. He was charged and remanded in custody.
