Beijing, 12 Dec (ZXS) -- The Chinese Society for the Study of Human Rights held a seminar in Beijing on 4 December on "Commemorating the 12th Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

Bai Ma Chilin, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 75th National People's Congress and president of the Chinese Human Rights Research Association, pointed out that 75 years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights established a basic consensus on respecting and protecting human rights. Looking back over the past <> years, China has always been an intellectual contributor, an active advocate and a staunch practitioner of the Declaration. The historic achievements of Chinese's human rights cause provide a Chinese solution for carrying forward the spirit of the Declaration. Today, we revisit the spirit of the Declaration to clarify the coordinates and direction of global human rights governance, so as to better safeguard world peace and promote common development.

Xu Xianming, vice chairman of the Fourth Council of the Chinese Human Rights Research Association, member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, and vice chairman of the Supervision and Judicial Committee of the National People's Congress, believes that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights integrates political, legal and moral declarations, integrates people's economic, social and cultural rights, promotes countries around the world to take "realizing people's rights" as the political criterion for evaluating governments, and makes important contributions to safeguarding world peace and promoting the progress and development of the international community.

Li Lin, member of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes that the contemporary Chinese concept of human rights adheres to the principle and center of human rights, adheres to the combination of the "primary focus" of human rights and "all-round development," innovates and develops the theory of the subject of human rights in the world, enriches and perfects the theory of the object of human rights in the world, promotes the innovation of the theory of international human rights values, and provides Chinese experience for the development of the cause of human rights in the world.
More than 70 people attended the meeting, including responsible persons of relevant departments of central and state organs and central media, experts and scholars in the field of human rights, and representatives of social organizations. The participants also conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the protection of human rights under the rule of law, the protection of human rights of specific groups, the common values of all mankind and global human rights governance. The seminar was hosted by the Research Center for Human Rights in Science and Technology at Beijing Institute of Technology. (ENDS)
