Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs Majid Al-Ansari confirmed that Qatari mediation efforts on Gaza are still ongoing.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Ansari said teams were still working through the operations room in Doha or through mediation teams to ensure lines of communication remained open. He described the negotiation process as one of the most difficult negotiation processes that the Qatari mediation mechanism went through.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that the Israeli bombardment of areas in the southern Gaza Strip makes it difficult for aid to enter the Strip.

The biggest challenge is the delivery of aid to areas in the northern Gaza Strip, al-Ansari said.

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said on Sunday at the ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council held in Doha that the State of Qatar renews its strong condemnation of what is being committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.

He also renewed the call for an immediate international investigation into the crimes of the occupation against the residents of Gaza, and stressed that the State of Qatar will continue its efforts with the active countries to resume the humanitarian truce to reach a permanent ceasefire.

On December 7, a 2-day humanitarian truce between the Palestinian resistance factions and Israel, which was brokered by Qatar with Egyptian-American support, ended during which prisoners were exchanged and humanitarian aid was brought into the Gaza Strip, which is home to about 3.<> million Palestinians.

The truce temporarily halted a devastating war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October, which has left tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, massive destruction of infrastructure, as well as an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
