In the Pskov region, a man was detained for an attempt to spy for Latvia

This was reported by the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the region.

"A native of the city of Pechora was detained on suspicion of cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state," TASS reports.

According to the agency, since December last year, the man has been trying to establish contact with a representative of the Latvian embassy in Russia in order to assist in exchange for obtaining citizenship.

It is specified that the man was supposed to transfer to the Latvian embassy information about the deployment of units of the FSB and the Russian Armed Forces in the Pskov region.

A criminal case has been initiated.

Earlier, officers of the FSB of Russia in the Tyumen region detained a resident of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug in the case of high treason in favor of Ukraine.
