The snowstorm that has swept in over large parts of Uppsala County has led to major problems in traffic.

In order to get public transport and pedestrian traffic back on track, the municipality is working on snow removal and sanding.

However, there will be no salting of pedestrian and cycle paths – so-called sweeping salting – until next year. The decision to withdraw sweeping salting in December was taken as one of several measures because the Street and Community Environment Committee must save a total of SEK 8 million.

"I skipped the bike today, I'm going to walk instead until they get rid of the worst of it," says Uppsala resident Karin Pettersson.
