All municipalities in the county are identified as high-risk areas in a press release from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

"The virus is highly contagious and can kill your birds. You should do everything you can to avoid your birds coming into direct or indirect contact with wild birds. Do not bring the virus into your birds via shoes, utensils, feed or bedding," the agency writes.

Several counties in southern Sweden are singled out

The decision on which counties and municipalities are considered high-risk areas is based on a risk assessment carried out by the National Veterinary Institute (SVA).

"Together with SVA, we are monitoring the situation regarding bird flu both nationally and internationally in order to be able to quickly change areas if the infection situation changes," writes the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

In addition to Blekinge, Gotland, Skåne and parts of Halland, Kalmar, Västra Götaland and Östergötland are also identified as risk areas.
