At the Japan-China-ROK Foreign Ministers' Meeting held on June 26, the two leaders agreed to accelerate work toward the early holding of the trilateral summit meeting. However, it is difficult to hold the conference by the end of this year, which has been the goal of the ROK, which is the presidency, and it is expected that adjustments will be made with the aim of early next year.

The first face-to-face meeting between Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) was held in Busan, Republic of Korea, on June 4, and Foreign Minister Kamikawa attended from Japan.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on North Korea's response to North Korea's alleged launch of a military reconnaissance satellite, and Minister Kamikawa stated, "I hope that China will play a role" in light of China's previous stance on the North Korea issue, which has shown a different stance from Japan and South Korea.

They also agreed to accelerate work in order to hold the summit meeting of the three countries, which has not been held since the end of 3, as soon as possible.

However, it is difficult to hold the conference by the end of this year, which has been the goal of the ROK, which is the chair of the conference, and according to Japan government officials, it is a situation on the Chinese side.

As a result, adjustments are expected to continue with the aim of early next year.

While the Japan Government is facing political issues in bilateral relations between Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea, the Government intends to make use of the framework of the trilateral dialogue to lead to regional stability.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs agrees to "closely advance preparatory work" for trilateral summit

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China (MOFA) announced that it had agreed to further advance the preparatory work for the trilateral summit meeting held on the 26th.

On the other hand, during the meeting, Foreign Minister Wang Yi commented on the future form of trilateral cooperation, saying, "The most important thing is to face up to history, respect each other's development paths and core interests, and deal with sensitive issues appropriately."

He also emphasized that "cooperation in East Asia should be led by cooperation among the three countries, and regional cooperation should be opposed to conflict between camps," and it is believed that he was restraining Japan and South Korea, which place importance on cooperation with the United States over the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.

In addition, regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Wang said, "It is not in the interest of any party to continue tensions, and it is urgent to create the necessary conditions for de-escalation of tensions and resume dialogue and to take meaningful actions."
