There were no claims. The jihadists of the JNIM (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims) linked to al-Qaeda, but also those of the Islamic State group are present in this part of Malian territory.

The villainous trail also cannot be ruled out.

Nearly three weeks after the incident, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is calling on the Malian transitional authorities not to ignore the murder of Abdoul Aziz Djibrilla and to do everything possible to ensure that the two kidnapped journalists are found.

«

We call on the Malian authorities in a context where local journalists are the last bastions, let's say, of a kind of total desertion of the right to information in the Sahel, and including in Mali. For us, it is important that the protection of journalists is a major issue, especially for those who work in this area, and they must absolutely benefit from this protection," Sadibou Marong, the head of RSF's sub-Saharan Africa desk in Dakar, told RFI.

RSF also calls on the Malian authorities "not to ignore the murder of Abdoul Aziz Djibrilla, to denounce it publicly, to open an investigation and to find those responsible. But also to take the necessary steps to ensure that the two other journalists, Saleck Ag Jiddou and Moustapha Koné, are found, because it has been three weeks. To remain silent on a similar tragedy seems problematic to us."
