Sisi looks forward to more cooperation with Qatar (Reuters)

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi thanked on Sunday via the X platform the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his team for his efforts, which complemented Egyptian efforts to complete the temporary humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip.

Sisi added that he looks forward to more joint cooperation to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people and establish peace in the region.

I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Emir Tamim bin Hamad of the sisterly State of Qatar for his efforts and his team, which were integrated with the Egyptian efforts to complete the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip and the success of the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and I look forward to more joint cooperation to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

Last Friday, Sisi stressed the importance of establishing a Palestinian state, expressing readiness to be demilitarized and with guarantees of the presence of European or American UN forces, as he put it.

The Qatari and Egyptian efforts led to the interim truce agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel in the Gaza Strip, which has been facing Israeli aggression since the seventh of last October, and the truce includes the exchange of prisoners between the two sides and the entry of humanitarian aid.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid al-Ansari said on Saturday that Qatar hopes to extend the truce between Israel and Hamas beyond the agreed four days.

Talks are underway between mediators, Hamas and the occupation authorities to extend the humanitarian truce, which expires on Monday, and to exchange more prisoners.
