"It's important to spread knowledge and a different image of menopause. It's usually quite negative," says midwife Eira Alanko.

Last spring, she started a menopause clinic at the health centre in Rättvik. It is the first midwifery-led menopause clinic in the region.

"I have a couple of appointments a week and they usually get booked up.

"Someone is needed to guide you"

On Thursday, an information evening will be held in Rättvik about menopause, where the health center will participate. Eira thinks that there is still a lot of ignorance about it, partly because many people do not know that it is possible to seek help.

"I think you need someone who can help guide you a bit. When women come to me, they say that it's so nice that someone listens and takes their problems seriously.
