At the same time, the general public is also advised to stay at home if they have symptoms of COVID-19.

"In general, a lot of people are sick right now. Anyone who feels unwell, gets a runny nose or gets a fever, should stay home from work for a few days until they feel better, writes Region Östergötland in a press release.

"It's important not to forget loneliness"

The Kvarnbacken nursing home in Linköping has already taken several measures to prevent anyone from becoming infected with COVID-19.

But operations manager Simon Zeitelberg has a clear lesson from the pandemic, which he thinks is important to keep in mind when trying to stop the spread of infection.

"It's important not to forget the loneliness that exists among the elderly. This is a major risk factor in isolation. We need to make sure that it is a meaningful day for our residents," he says.
