Several schools in Arras were targeted by "bomb threats" on Monday and some were evacuated, the prefecture and the rectorate said. The new alerts come just a month after a radicalized former student stabbed a school that claimed the life of a teacher.

Several schools in Arras were targeted by "bomb threats" on Monday and some were evacuated, the prefecture and the rectorate said, a month after the attack on a high school in the city that claimed the life of a teacher.

"These alerts follow the receipt of an email," the Pas-de-Calais prefecture said. "As a precautionary measure, the students have been evacuated and a clarification is underway," she added. The Oscar Cléret school in Arras and the Charles Perrault school in Dainville, a neighbouring town, and the Bodel and Saint-Vincent colleges in Arras are affected by the evacuations.

Increasing Bomb Threats

The Carnot-Gambetta school group in Arras, the scene of the attack that claimed the life of Dominique Bernard a month ago, also received a message but was not evacuated, according to the rectorate.

Since the Arras attack on October 13, France has been facing a wave of bomb threats. On several occasions, the Palace of Versailles or the airports of Toulouse, Nantes and Lille have been evacuated following false explosive alarms.
