On the 10th, the Information Office of the State Council of China released a white paper on "The Practice and Historic Achievements of the Party's Strategy for Governing Tibet in the New Era", and many Tibetan scholars paid attention to the white paper's experience and interpretation of ethnic work and border development.

Chen Pu, deputy director and researcher of the Institute of Economic Strategy of the Tibet Autonomous Region Academy of Social Sciences, said that in recent years, the central government and the local government in Tibet have given unprecedented support to the development of the border, and the industrial driving effect is obvious. All border counties in Tibet have made good use of their good location, natural geographical conditions, and cultural landscape resources to vigorously develop advantageous industries such as cultural tourism, agriculture and animal husbandry with special characteristics, and border trade. Border areas have taken the initiative to develop planting and breeding industries, such as raising yaks, cashmere goats, Tibetan fragrant pigs, and Tibetan chickens, planting economic forests, and building greenhouses. Therefore, agriculture and animal husbandry have made a greater contribution to the income and living standards of border residents. It is worth mentioning that around 2018, the per capita added value of the primary industry in the border areas was higher than that of the whole Tibet region.

"The border areas are the first line of defense for national security, and the central government has made it clear that Tibet will ensure the consolidation of border defense and border security." Zheng Limei, deputy director of the Institute of Contemporary Tibet Studies of the Tibet Autonomous Region Academy of Social Sciences, said that Tibet has made efforts to create a national demonstration zone for consolidating the border areas and rejuvenating the border areas and enriching the people, and has continuously invested in the construction of well-off villages, infrastructure, public services, national security education, and "smart border defense". In the practical actions of striving to be the guardians of the sacred land and the builders of a happy homeland, the patriotic enthusiasm and pride of the Tibetan people have been further stimulated, and the sense of community of the Chinese nation has been further enhanced.

Jiu Maocuo, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Economics and Management of Tibet University, head of the Nepal Research Center of Tibet University and the Nepal and Bhutan Research Center of Tibet University, said that as an important channel for South Asia, Tibet's harmony, stability, openness and development have opened a new stage of promoting the modernization of border areas and deeply integrating into the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road", promoted exchanges and exchanges between China and neighboring countries in South Asia in economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges, and deepened the mutually beneficial and win-win peaceful development between China and South Asian countries.

The white paper pointed out that Tibet has persisted in forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, promoted the high-quality development of ethnic work, and consolidated socialist ethnic relations based on equality, unity, mutual assistance and harmony.

Dr. Luo Dan, deputy secretary of the party group and vice president of the Tibet Institute of Socialism, observed and gave examples that many Han people who have lived in Tibet for a long time and other ethnic minorities other than Tibetans also drink butter tea and eat tsamba like Tibetans. In his view, this has changed from a national cultural characteristic to a regional cultural characteristic, and the in-depth exchanges and blending between various ethnic groups are reflected here.

Che Minghuai, a researcher at the Tibet Autonomous Region Academy of Social Sciences, said that forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation is an important embodiment of the party's strategy for governing Tibet in the new era and an important guarantee for Tibet's development and progress. Looking back at history, it is often said that Tibet has been a part of China since ancient times, and this is not a conclusion drawn out of thin air, but is the result of the inherent centripetal force of various ethnic groups.

Che Minghuai said that the peaceful liberation of Tibet has laid a political, economic, and cultural foundation for forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, and there has been a qualitative change in the exchanges, exchanges, and blending of various ethnic groups. One of the important practical results of forging the sense of community of the Chinese nation is the further deepening of the exchanges, exchanges and integration between various ethnic groups across the country and the Tibetan ethnic group. In the new era, the great changes in Tibet's economy, culture, ecology, and other fields should be attributed to the tremendous role of the "three exchanges" in deepening. (ENDS)
