The acting Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has deleted the tweet she published a year and a half ago in which she indirectly called Rafael Marcos, ex-husband of María Sevilla, former president of Infancia Libre, an abuser, in compliance with a ruling of the Supreme Court (SC) that imposed it on her.

In a message on X, the network formerly known as Twitter, the Secretary of Government Action of Podemos has indicated (this Friday at 23:37 p.m.) that she deletes her tweet of May 25, 2022 "in compliance with the sentence", of which she publishes its header and ruling below, to which she was also obliged by that judicial resolution, issued on June 8, 2023.

Likewise, in the partial upholding of Rafael Marcos' lawsuit against Irene Montero, the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court required the minister to publish the heading and the operative part of the judgment in a national newspaper, at her own expense.

Montero has fulfilled it in the digital newspaper Público, which exhibits it from 23:11 p.m. on Friday 10.

The minister has already deposited the 18,000 euros in compensation to María Sevilla's ex-husband and also had to pay 5,400 euros for the costs and interest of the procedure, according to the order for the execution of the sentence, issued on October 4, four months after the court decision.

In it, the Supreme Court condemned Montero for violation of the right to honor for some words pronounced at the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of the Women's Institute, and the publicity he gave them by showing the video in the now-deleted tweet.

The minister then said that "protective mothers suffer unjustly and, in many cases, representing a violation of many of their rights, criminalization and suspicion by society, when what they are doing is nothing more than defending themselves and their sons and daughters against the sexist violence of the abusers."

Marcos denounced that Montero made these statements just after it was learned that the Government partially pardoned his ex-wife, sentenced in 2020 to two years and four months in prison and the loss of parental authority of her son for a crime of child abduction of that child, whom he did not allow to approach his father.

The Supreme Court pointed out that the minister's words "are not generic, but from the context and their literalness it can be deduced that the plaintiff is alluded to and that acts constituting sexist violence are attributed to him."

In September, Montero paid the compensation of 18,000 euros and the State Attorney's Office, which represented her in the process, asked the Supreme Court to suspend the execution of the rest of the sentence - which included the dissemination of the ruling - until the Constitutional Court resolved the appeal for amparo.

Earlier this month, the Constitutional Court rejected the appeal filed by the Minister of Equality, in a ruling in which it indicated that it does not have "the special constitutional significance" required by law for amparo appeals to be admitted for processing.
