In order to accelerate public-private reconstruction assistance efforts for Ukraine, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuji and State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Iwata are coordinating with representatives of about 10 Japan companies to visit Ukraine later this month.

According to multiple diplomatic sources, coordination is underway for State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuji and State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Iwata to visit Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, later this month.

During their stay in Kyiv, the two ministers will pay a courtesy call on Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal as well as First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Sviridenko.

In addition, representatives from about 1 Japan companies will accompany him to meet with Ukrainian business representatives.

Japan has provided Ukraine with demining technology and large-scale transformer facilities to support wintering, and JICA = Japan International Cooperation Agency resumed operations at its local offices this month.

According to diplomatic sources, the Japan government aims to use this visit to accelerate public-private sector efforts to support reconstruction toward the Japan-Ukraine Economic Reconstruction Promotion Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Tokyo on February 10 next year.
