Mari Flink handed over two full binders of signatures. The association Prison Free Trelleborg hopes that a referendum can take place in connection with the elections to the European Parliament in May next year.

Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board Ann Kajson Carlqvist (M) thanked and received the binders, but at the same time announced that the Moderates will vote no to the demand for a referendum even though more than ten percent of the municipality's residents have signed the demand.

In addition, Kajson Carlqvist noted that the officials will probably not have time to go through and verify all the signatures by May.

In the clip, you can watch the signatures being handed over and hear what opponents of the prison and politicians have to say about a referendum.
