Military expert Major General Fayez al-Duwairi said that the next phase of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip will be more violent than before, expecting that the losses of the occupation army will be more than will be announced even by the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Al-Duwairi added, in an analysis of Al Jazeera, that the war, which entered its 35th day, began to exceed the duration of the 2006 war that took place between Israel and Hezbollah and lasted 34 days, pointing out that what is declared of the area of control of the occupation forces on the ground is less than the actual reality.

In this context, he explained that the progress achieved by the Israeli forces, from both sides of Al-Rashid Street, which extends from north to south, is confined to the main road without the ability to control the secondary streets, referring in this context to the statement of the commander of an Israeli armored unit that the more the forces penetrate, the more difficult the battle becomes.

He pointed out that the areas of incursion carried out by the occupation forces in the past are known to have a lower urban density than others, and their streets are wider, and therefore the possibility of movement of vehicles is more, but with deepening, the occupation will not be able to employ its mechanisms perfectly, due to the complexities in terms of buildings, backfilling and the lack of firing ranges, which makes the fighting mostly from zero distance.

This will further complicate and make the battle more difficult, and thus increase the losses of the attacking party, al-Duwairi said, as there are 4 armored brigades at a minimum, each supported by two infantry battalions, each of which has an average number between 450 and 500 members, which turns into a weak point in light of the resistance's ability to confront zero and destroy al-Nimr armored vehicles.

The military expert argued that – because of this expected development – the fighting will be more violent than its previous stages, and the amount of losses of the occupation army in personnel and equipment will be higher than what is expected to be announced by the Qassam Brigades, in addition to what the occupation army will announce.
