As Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip continue, US President Joe Biden has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a three-day cessation of hostilities in order to free hostages held by the Islamic group Hamas, American media reported.

The American news site Axios reported on the 7th that US and Israeli officials said that US President Joe Biden had asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a three-day cessation of hostilities in order to proceed with the release of hostages held by the Islamic group Hamas during a telephone conversation he held the day before.

The proposal was discussed between the United States, Israel, and Qatar, which acts as an intermediary with Hamas over the release of hostages, and if Israel stops fighting for three days, Hamas will release 3 to 3 hostages, and within three days, the names of all the hostages will be identified and listed.

In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed a negative view that he did not trust Hamas and that it was not the time to respond to the request.

Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly told President Biden that if he halted hostilities for three days, he could lose international support for Israel's military actions.
